INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

Scope and editoria policy

The Journal of the Chilean Chemical Society (JCCS) publishes full articles and Communications, in all fields of chemistry, (including border line areas such as bioorganic, bioinorganic, biochemistry, materials chemistry and others) containing experimental, theoretical and applied research results of outstanding significance and that have not been previously published and are not under consideration elsewhere. Articles and any other material published in JCCS represent the opinions of the author(s) and should not be construed to reflect the opinions of the editor(s).

Form and manuscripts preparation

The electronic version should be accompanied by a letter (attached) indicating if the work is to be considered as a full paper or a short communication. Authors are encouraged to suggest at least three names and electronic addresses of potential referees when paper is first submitted. All correspondence between editor and author will be carried out by www.jcchems.com website.

Common headings like Abstract, Introduction, Experimental, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, References and Acknowledgements (if any) are strongly recommended. The title page (p. 1) should contain the article title, authors' names, institution where the research was carried out, full address for manuscript correspondence (including e-mail and fax number). The corresponding author should be indicated with an asterisk. References must be numbered with superscripted Arabic numbers following the order of appearance in the text. Do not use any kind parenthesis. Style and punctuation of the references should conform to that illustrated by the following examples:

1.- Journal article

H. Li, J. Kim, L. Groy, J. Am. Chem. Soc. 123, 4867, (2001)

2.- Book

C.N.Rao, A. Muller, A. K. Cheetham The Chemistry on Nanomaterials. Synthesis, Properties and Applications, Wiley-Vch, Weinheim, 2004.

3.- Contribution in a Book

S. Abbet and U. Heiz in The Chemistry on Nanomaterials. Synthesis, Properties and Applications, C.N.Rao, A. Muller, A. K. Cheetham eds. Wiley-Vch, Weinheim, 2004 ; pp. 551-588.

Microsoft Word processors are encouraged.

Short Communications. Short Communications are reports of unusual significance, urgency and interest and must contain relevant preliminary results. They cannot be larger than two Journal pages (approx. 2000 words). Larger Communications will be sent back to authors for shortening. An explaining statement of how their communication metes the unusual urgency, significance and interest will assist the editor in accepting or rejecting the communication. The short communication should not be structured as a regular paper, i.e., just a very short introduction to the subject, the most relevant results and conclusions must be included. If the work describes a general synthetic work, sufficient supplementary material should be supplied in order to anyone could apply the technique immediately.

Graphical Abstract. Authors are requested to supply a graphical abstract when the paper is first submitted. This abstract should contain: 1) title of the paper (Arial 10, Capital black letters), 2) authors' names (Arial Narrow 10 normal), 3) address (Times New Roman, 10, cursive), 4) a very brief summary of the main results of the work (not more than 250 characters including spaces. (Times New Roman 10, normal) and 5) figure. The entire graphical abstract can not exceed an area of 14.5 cm x 5 cm. This abstract must be designed to capture the attention of a wide readership and to be compiled for fast scanning of the Journal. Should you have problems to create the graphical abstract in the appropriate form, please contact the editorial office. You will receive precise instruction to produce such as abstract.
