Scope and policy

Psicoperspectivas is an academic peer-reviewed publication aimed at the international scientific community, publishes articles on Psychology in Dialogue with the Social Sciences with the aim of contributing to social transformation from a critical view of social problems of current relevance and their possibilities for change.

Each issue contains unpublished articles based on empirical research, theoretical research and systematization of interventions.

Articles written in Spanish, English and Portuguese are accepted and published three times a year (March 15, July 15 and November 15).

The manuscripts are evaluated by two or more international peers using the double-blind modality.

No theoretical essays, instrument validations or articles related to the field of Neurosciences are published.

Manuscripts must not exceed 8,000 words and must comply with the standards established by APA 6th Edition. Accepted articles are published online and are available free of charge from under the Open Access policy.

The journal is a publication of the School of Psychology of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Chile.

The Editorial Team of the journal is made up of national and international specialists, recognized in Psychology and Social and Human Sciences.

Psicoperspectivas is indexed in Scopus, Scielo, Latindex, Psycinfo, Redalyc, Pepsic, Dialnet, DOAJ and REDIB.

Form and preparation of manuscripts

Articles should adhere to the publication guidelines of the American Psychological Association (APA) Publication Style Manual, 6th edition (2010).

The maximum length is 8,000 words, including references.

First page:

  • Title 15 words (maximum, in Spanish or Portuguese, and English, according to the language of the text), and in English;
  • Omit identification of authors;
  • Abstract (in the language of the text) and its translation (Abstract) into English, 180 words (maximum), including the following: main theoretical aspects, research objectives, methodological procedures, most relevant results and conclusions of the research process;
  • Keywords: 3 to 5 keywords (in the language of the text and its translation into English).

The content must be presented according to the following structure, without enumeration:

  • Introduction and theoretical framework (it is not required to write the subtitle Introduction; it is inferred)
  • Method
  • Results
  • Discussion and conclusion
  • References

The content of each section must conform to that specified by APA Standards 6a. ed. (2010).

The manuscripts received are subjected to a review of formal aspects and content, to determine whether they comply with the formal requirements and their adjustment to the editorial line of Psicoperspectivas.

If the article passes the previous phase, it is sent to two or more experts for evaluation. During the process the names of the authors and evaluators are kept in reserve. The Editorial Committee of the journal decides on the acceptance, revision or rejection of articles, based on the evaluations of at least two experts.

At the end of each year, the list of people who have collaborated as evaluators is published.

Sending manuscripts

To submit a manuscript for evaluation, authors must register themselves as “authors” in the journal website and send the required files through the online management platform (OJS).
