RLA - Revista de Lingüística Teórica y Aplicada has as its main objective the dissemination of theoretical and applied linguistics research at an academic level both nationally and internationally. It is aimed at researchers, linguists, speech therapists, professors and readers in general from the national and foreign scientific communities (Latin America, Europe, USA).
Submitted manuscripts should be original and not have been published elsewhere. They arise from the diverse areas of theoretical or applied linguistics research, and they are preferentially written in Spanish or other languages such as English or Portuguese. Priority is given to articles that are based on formalized research projects. Articles should strictly observe the Publication Norms of the Journal.
Evaluation of articles is carried out by national and
international external peers, using the double-blind procedure. They take
into account aspects such as the originality of the research or manuscript
and its relevance to the scientific knowledge in either theoretical or
Types of works or contributions: RLA exclusively publishes articles (notes or reviews are not accepted for submission) of a maximum of 20-page-length, including tables, graphs, references and abstracts in Spanish and English.
Articles should cover linguistic topics that are pertinent to the disciplinary areas of theoretical and applied linguistics. They should develop theoretical or empirical aspects that present innovative ideas that complement and expand previous research. Preferably they should originate in the context of national or international research projects supported by external financing.
Submission formatting. The format of contributions should be letter sized paper, in New Times Roman 12-point font, single line spacing with all four margins, left, right, top and bottom of 3 cm. The following information should be consigned:
In-text and bibliographical references. In-text citations and final bibliographical references should follow the American Psychological Association (A.P.A) referencing system:
Bibliographical references in the final list should be arranged in alphabetical order and by year of publication in the case of more than one work by the same author.
Journals: The last name of each author, first name or names, year of publication, title of the work, name of the journal (in italics), the volume, initial page-final page of the article.
Example: Álvarez, Gerardo. 2002. La determinación de los sujetos del discurso. RLA, 40, 25-39.
Books: Last name of each author, first name or names, year of publication, title of the book (in italics), edition, volume (if applicable), city of publication, country, name of publisher.
Example: Ramírez, José. 2001. Teoría del signo (2da edic., vol. II). Concepción, Chile: Editorial Universidad de Concepción.
Electronic document: In the case of electronic sources, care must be taken regarding their veracity and reliability as well as the support of institutions or authors of prestige. The overuse of these sources should be avoided. Citations should be as follows: Author, title of document. Disponible en http://address/name of archive.

All in-text citations in the manuscript should appear in the final list of references.
All final references should correspond to citations
within the text.
For graphs (bar, circular or others) do not use a color set. Only monochrome should be used. Distinctive elements should be presented in percentages or plots that are clearly differentiated. Remember that they will be reproduced in black and white.
Tables, charts and graphs should be constructed in Excel software.
If tables, charts and/or graphs are not in the body of the text, their location should be indicated within the text.
Drawings or figures. Drawings and photographs
should be named Figures and numbered in sequence with Arabic numbers.
They should be included within the text and also sent as attachments in
files “jpeg” with a resolution of 300 dpi, in gray scaling
with an approximate minimum size of 9 x 12 cm.
Arbitration system and selection of contributions
Contributions will be subjected to the consideration of national and foreign external judges, using the double-blind procedure.
Notification to the authors
The main author will be notified of the manuscript reception and, afterwards, of the results of the evaluation by the judges.
On acceptance of a paper for publication in the journal, it is understood that authors accept the transfer of copyright to the journal.
Evaluation of contributions
Manuscripts will be evaluated by two expert judges (national and/or foreign), using the double-blind procedure. They take into account the formal aspects (specified in the Guidelines for Publication of the Journal) and to those related to the scientific quality of the research (originality, relevance to scientific knowledge in applied or theoretical linguistics, adequate theoretical support, and adequate and updated bibliographical references in the area of research).
A deadline of six months is set for the expert judges to inform the evaluation of a manuscript. Upon this evaluation, the director of the journal will inform the main author of its results and the feasibility of publication of the article.
The Editorial Committee of the journal reserves the
right to not send manuscripts for evaluation when they do not strictly
comply with the Publication Guidelines. Additionally, the journal director
reserves the right to include accepted articles for publication in the
volume she considers most appropriate.

Manuscripts will be received in the months of March, April, August and September.
