Resumen

TAY, Juan; MERA, Mario  y  FRANCE, Andrés. Luanco-INIA : a new large seed Chilean grasspea (Lathyrus sativus L. ) cultivar for the export market. Agric. Téc. [online]. 2004, vol.64, n.3, pp.309-313. ISSN 0365-2807.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0365-28072004000300012.

Luanco-INIA is a new grasspea (Lathyrus sativus L.) cultivar obtained through pure selection from the accession LS-0027, of Chilean grasspea germplasm. The outstanding characteristic of this cultivar is its large seed size, with a mean 100-seed weight of 30 g, which can increase up to 35 g in a favorable environment. It has light green foliage and a mean height of 30 to 50 cm, depending on environmental conditions. Luanco-INIA has white flowers and the number of seeds per pod varies from 1 to 3. The color of the seed is creamy-white with yellow cotyledons. Luanco-INIA is well adapted to dry winter and spring seeding, either in medium or high rainfall areas of the south-central and southern areas of Chile. The yield is similar to the ecotype normally used by farmers, but with a significantly higher seed size.

Palabras clave : Lathyrus sativus L.; grasspea; cultivar.
