ASTETE A, Carmen Paz; BECA I, Juan Pablo  y  PAREDES M, Marcela. Liver transplantation in a patient with neurological damage: a one-off treatment? Some bioethical considerations. Rev. chil. pediatr. [online]. 2003, vol.74, n.1, pp.81-86. ISSN 0370-4106.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0370-41062003000100011.

This article outlines some ethical questions about an 8-year old female patient, with a chronic liver disease associated to a severe and non-reversible brain damage. Her parents ask to the medical team to perform a liver transplantation, she is their only daughter, and they are aware about a 25% of recurrence in another child. The ethical limits and decision making process in these patients are discussed

Palabras clave : liver transplantation; ethics; brain damage.
