CAVAGNARO S.M., Felipe  y  PEREZ-CANTO M, Paula. Acute renal failure in children with nephrotic syndrome. Rev. chil. pediatr. [online]. 2005, vol.76, n.3, pp.299-303. ISSN 0370-4106.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0370-41062005000300010.

Introduction: Acute renal failure (ARF)is an uncommon complication of children with nephrotic syndrome (NS), and its presentation may complicate the treatment and prognosis of these patients. Many causes have been implicated in its aetiology, but usually remains unknown. Paediatric cases reported show that children with nephrotic syndrome are also susceptible of this complication. Objective: To describe our experience in children with NS and secondary ARF. Cases: We describe 4 paediatric cases of acute renal failure occuring at nephrotic syndrome relapse, and review the related publications. Conclusion: ARF complicates treatment of NS, especially due to dialytic requirements and severe hypertension

Palabras clave : acute renal failure; nephrotic syndrome; acute renal replacement; children.
