This article is focused on the entire career of Fernando Rosas (born 1931) from its beginning in the decade of 1950, until the present day. During almost sixty years, Fernando Rosas has been known as conductor of chamber orchestras, many of which were created by him, and which became widely known throughout Chile and abroad thanks to his great capacity as organizer. He won the National Arts Prize in 2006 considering besides his outstanding achievements as head of academic programs for music students, his promoting and support of youth and children orchestras throughout the country, and his efficient organization of musical extension projects targeted to different audiences on both public and private basis. A significant growth of musical activity in Chile, in terms of concert seasons, music festivals, radio and television broadcasting, among others, is due to his effective leadership
