Abstract

ALVEAR TELLEZ, Julio. Pope Leo Xiii’s Corpus Politicum. An “Anti-Modern” Interpretation. Rev. estud. hist.-juríd. [online]. 2018, n.40, pp.445-472. ISSN 0716-5455.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0716-54552018000100445.

This paper studies the political doctrine of Leo XIII from an “anti-modern” reading. From the direct revision of the primary sources, the matter is analyzed from one of the angles most used by the Pontiff: the contrast between the principles of Christian public law and the principles of the “new right”, fruit of the Revolution. Liberalism and socialism are, in this horizon, the most characteristic systems of the secularization process. And the sovereign and secular State, one of its most problematic artifacts. The restoration of Christianity is the desired solution.

Keywords : Leo XIII; Christian public law; Secularization.
