Resumen

MATTEIS, Lorena M. A. de. Entre zepellines y boeings 747: metáforas del vuelo y de la aviación en el habla cotidiana en español bonaerense. Lit. lingüíst. [online]. 2005, n.16, pp.223-247. ISSN 0716-5811.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0716-58112005000100013.

Within the framework of previous studies on the use of metaphor in daily speech (Lakoff y Johnson, Hock, Rojas), we present in this article a review of metaphors originated from flight and aviation that are of common use within the bonaerense spanish linguistic community. These metaphors are associated with mental and emotional states, as well as with physical features. We present the use of metaphors among bonaerense spanish speakers that belong, at the same time, to the aeronautical community and who resort to some metaphorical expressions in their professional jargon. Thus, the productivity of this lexical creation mechanism (Sanmartín Sáez) is corroborated also within the highly regulated and structured speech that exercise both air traffic controllers and pilots

Palabras clave : metaphor; aviation; sociolinguistics.
