This work presents a program for the development of cognitive strategies for the production of written text applied to 40 students of the Program of Translation and Interpretation English-Spanish. The intervention began with the application of an activity of writing (pretest) and a multiple choice questionnaire on declaratory knowledge about the written production. This was followed by 28 working sessions during which the emphasis was on having the students reflect on their own cognitive processes before and after the proposed activities. After having finished the intervention, we applied a, the metaproduction questionnaire (post test). The results show not only an increase in the competence of the students, but also in the reflective capacity and in the autonomy as writers
