Abstract

STEFANINI, M. A. et al. THE EPIDIDYMAL REGION OF THE PIGEON (Columbia livia): MORPHOLOGICAL AND MORPHOMETRICAL EVALUATION. Rev. chil. anat. [online]. 1999, vol.17, n.1, pp.21-25. ISSN 0716-9868.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0716-98681999000100003.

The epididymal region of the pigeon consists of a mass of tubules attached to the dorsomedial surface of the testis, and comprising proximal and distal efferent ductules and a short epididymal duct. The efferent ductules are lined by a stereociliated pseudostratified epithelium and the epididymal duct by a nonciliated pseudostratified low colummnar epithelium. The morphometric evaluation showed that the proximal efferent ductules have the greatest calibre (X = 283,64 µm) in epididymal region, with possible physiological envolvement in seminal fluid resorption
