The morfometrics properties of the bone are modeled by forces that cause alterations in its geometry, what it determine forms and characteristics dimensions, related with the capacity of resistance of the bone to tensions and compressions. The objective of this study was to analyze the morfometrics variations of the third metacarpal bone at the mid-diaphysis, and to establish comparisons between sides (right and left) and between sexes. Thirty cross-breed animals between 19 and 24 months of age were used in this study, 14 females and 16 males. The weight and the length of each third metacarpal bone were determined. Each bone was transversally sectioned at the mid diaphysis level and the following measurements were recorded: diameter of the bone, diameter of the marrow cavity, wall thickness in the medial, lateral, cranial and caudal quadrants and the total, cortical and marrow cavity areas. Statistical analysis were performed. The results showed morfometrics variations in the mid- diaphysis of all variables under study. There were no statistical differences between the thickness of the lateral and medial wall, in relation to the differences significant found in the cranial and caudal quadrants. There were statistical differences between right and left side in the following measurements: diameter of the marrow cavity (p= 0,001), medial quadrants wall thickness (p= 0,002), cortical area (p= 0,009) and area of the marrow cavity (p= 0,004).  No significant differences were detected between sexes in any measurement studied.
