Stomach contents of tree important artisanal fishery species from the Herradura Bay in Coquimbo (IV Region, Chile), was studied: Cheilodactylus variegatus, Pinguipes chilensis and Prolatilus jugularis. 20 specimens of each species were captured between October and November of 2001. The numerical frecuency (FN), volume (FV) and occurrence (FO) of each prey-item was determined. This information was analyzed by IIR (relative importance index) and in order to determine the food niche overlap the Morisita index was used. Ch. variegatus and P. chilensis preferentially had a crustacean diet, based on Rhynchocinetes typus. P. jugularis preferes polychaets in its diet. The niche overlap between Ch. variegatus and P. chilensis was very high (0,85) while the lowest overlap was found between P. chilensis and P. jugularis (0,09)
