Abstract

BONATTO, Virginia. CHILDHOOD MEMORY, GENDER AND DICTATORSHIP. MARÍA LAURA FERNÁNDEZ BERRO, LAURA ALCOBA AND LEOPOLDO BRIZUELA. Acta lit. [online]. 2018, n.57, pp.71-91. ISSN 0717-6848.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0717-68482018000200071.

Abstract: The purpose of this work is to analyze the novels El camino de las hormigas (María Laura Fernández Berro), La casa de los conejos (Laura Alcoba) and Una misma noche (Leopoldo Brizuela) considering the ways in which these texts combine the reconstruction of the past with the childish perspective. Written like autobiographies, these novels collect family experiences related to Argentine's last military dictatorship and offer a genuine vision of that past, that has to do with the childish and innocent perspective. The voice of the child takes distance from the common places of collective memory related to the experiences of politically active adults. At the same time, it exposes the patriarchal characteristics of that period. Moreover, the childish perspective exposes the relations of power and gender that shape family bonds.

Keywords : Childish perspective; gender; collective memory; Argentine's military dictatorship.
