GALVEZ, Mauricio y REBOLLEDO, Hernán. Length-composition and length-weight relationship in cardinalfish (Epigonus crassicaudus) of the central-southern area off Chile. Investig. mar. [online]. 2001, vol.29, n.2, pp.39-49. ISSN 0717-7178. http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0717-71782001000200005.
The size-frequency and the length-weight relationship was analyzed temporal and spatially, from the catch data registered for cardinalfish, by the industrial trawlers of central-southern area off Chile. This study considered the area between Curaumilla point (33º10'S) and the south of Mocha Island (38º38'S), from October 1998 to September 1999. The main results shown that size-frequency distributions are unimodal; the average, maximum and modal lengths of the females are higher than males and tend to increase southward to the analyzed area. It was settle that the growth in weight for males and females is allometric with parameters (a, b) of 0.02847, 2.77571 (males) and 0.02160, 2.86661 (females), for the period analyzed
