Abstract

PERRY, Mariana. Transferencia política en el exilio chileno en los Países Bajos, 1973-1989: El caso del Instituto para el Nuevo Chile. Historia (Santiago) [online]. 2017, vol.50, n.1, pp.175-207. ISSN 0717-7194.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0717-71942017000100007.

The objective of this article is to contribute to academic reflection on the relevance of exile in Europe to the Chilean left's political renewal and its effect on the transition to democracy. Specifically, it will focus on the process of Socialist Renewal and how the situation in the Netherlands impacted that reflection. In this way, the political reasons for the Netherlands' support of the democratic struggle for the Chilean political community, through the founding of the Institute for a New Chile, will be analyzed. This institute was key in the process of debate and circulation of the political transference contained in Renewal in exile and connected the discussions carried out in Chile. The investigation included access to the Fund of the Socialist International Archives of the Institute of Social History in Amsterdam, the Countries Fund in Chile's Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Archive and Saskia Stuiveling's personal archives, as well as interviews with key informants.

Keywords : Chilean diaspora; political transfer; socialist renewal; democratic transition.
