PERUCCA P, Ernesto et al. EXPERIENCIA Y MANEJO DEL PURPURA TROMBOCITOPENICO IDIOPATICO DURANTE EL EMBARAZO. Rev. chil. obstet. ginecol. [online]. 2003, vol.68, n.4, pp.293-299. ISSN 0048-766X.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0717-75262003000400004.

We present our experience of 14 pregnancies in carriers of idiopathic trombocitopenic purpura (ITP) in a lapse of 11 years, 8 ofthem were active (trombocytopenic) and 6 inactive (normal platelets). The incidence of the disease in our Service was 1 in 5.554 pregnancies. The maternal age fluctuated between 18 and 38 years old with a media of 28 years; 5 nulipara (36%) and 9 multipara (64%). Six of the patients presented clinical symptoms like nosebleeding or oral bleeding, ecchymoses and petechial rash. In the active cases of ITP, 5 of the patients recieved cortioids, obtaining complete clinical answer in a single case and partial response in two. The minimal blood platelets count in the active forms fluctuated between 2.000 and 40.000 plat/mm3. There were 3 with less than 5.000/mm3. Transfusion of blood platelets in 6 cases was used. The gestational age at childbirth fluctuated between 32 and 40 weeks, the percentage of preterm birth was 37%. 62% of all the cases were delivered by cesarean section. 25% of the babies had low weight at birth. There no greater maternal complications, neither low apgar at five minutes in active form presentations. We had one case of intrauterine fetal death, and one newborn death, associated with premature rupture of membranes at week 29 in a patient with inactive form of ITP. 50% of new born (4 cases) had blood platelets count lower than 5.000, 2 of them with counts less to 20.000 they required platelets transfusion
