Dr. Arturo Vivado Orsini practised and lecturen on Psychiatry, and acted as Director of the National Asylum, during the time in which the great breaktroughs of psychiatric therapeutics were made. Vivado and his collaborators, introduced these new therapies in Chile, including electroshock, insulin therapy, and aversion theraphy with apomorphine for alcoholism, allowing, thus, many patients to be discharged from hospital
