Abstract

HENRIQUEZ, Jorge; FUENTES, Ramón; SANDOVAL, Paulo  and  MUNOZ, Alejandra. ANALYSIS OF THE CRANEOFACIAL ORTHOSTATICAL STABILITY IN MAPUCHE YOUNG ADULTS. Int. J. Morphol. [online]. 2003, vol.21, n.2, pp.149-153. ISSN 0717-9502.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0717-95022003000200009.

The analiys was done on teleradiographies employing the Rocabado cephalograms to evaluate in this manner the hyoid triangle, the posteroinferior angle and the C0-C1 space. The cervical curvature was evaluated through the Penning technique. It gave an average value of 91.2 ± 7.4 under the posteroinferior angle analisys, being this data under the normal range, on C0-C1 distance, the average value was of 9.5 ± 3.4 mm, which is slightly over the normal range and on the hyoid distance, 27 (60,0%) subject were observed under the normal average. In other hand, cervical curvature measurements gave an 80,0% of higher average value alteration and only 20,0% were normal. The posteroinferior angle measurement is not only a complementary value to the C0-C1 space, employed to determinate cranial position with respect to cervical spine. Finally, it is concluded that important morphological differences are shown between the studied average values, under comparison with the normal cephalogram parameters as are presented by Rocabado and some others studies on not mapuche individuals. We estimate that our work is complementary to others, performed by different investigators, which point out morphological differences on the mapuche ethnic group
