Resumen
AGUILAR-CASTRO, JADITZA. THE HOUSE THAT FLOATS. Atenea (Concepc.) [online]. 2008, n.498, pp.33-43. ISSN 0718-0462. http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-04622008000200003.
This essay “La casa que flota” examines, on the one hand, how the writing of Manuel Ramos Otero has deconstructed and re-articulated the privileged images of the pater familia and the house, both in his short stories and in his poems. On the other hand, it analyses which are the alternative spaces and characters that are proposed in the writing of this Puerto Rican author from exile. The irreverent language and the mise en scène of marginal characters -as the prostitute and the homosexual- from a perspective of transgression have been the key elements when approaching the house of writing of Ramos Otero, where mobility, transit and displacement are central coordinates.
