The behavior of a coating for metallic barriers in highways and the bars holding them have been analyzed. The new product is intended to better protect motorcyclists if they crash against these barriers in road accidents. Protectors have been manufactured with rubber from recycled used tires and represent a new and ecological alternative to existing products nowadays on the market. Data measured are used to compare impact attenuation when the post is uncovered or covered with the rubber protection. It is concluded that this new coating represents a good alternative from both the technical and the economic point of view.
