The aim of the work was to evaluate the hydrogen induced cracking (HIC) susceptibility of weld beads applied on 1¼ Cr-½Mo + ferritic/martensitic stainless steel 12% Cr clad plate. For this, a system was developed based on the implant test proposed by Granjon, with the GMAW welding process and different hydrogen levels in the shielding gas. The results of this research included SEM fractographic analysis, metallography, hardness profile and correlation through a mathematical regression model of the critical fracture stress versus diffusible hydrogen, carbon equivalent, and cooling time. The results of the modeling are found to be satisfactory when compared with experimental data.
