ROCHA-HOYOS, Juan C.; TIPANLUISA, Luis E.; ZAMBRANO, Víctor D.  y  PORTILLA, Ángel A.. Study of a Gasoline Engine in Altitude Conditions with Mixtures containing Organic Additive in the Fuel. Inf. tecnol. [online]. 2018, vol.29, n.5, pp.325-334. ISSN 0718-0764.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-07642018000500325.

In this article, the behavior of the Volkswagen 1, 8 L. vehicle at altitude conditions was evaluated. This was done by analyzing the exhaust emissions and the autonomy of the vehicle. Two static tests emissions and fuel consumption were done on a city-highway route of 27, 95 km in the city of Quito-Ecuador at 2850 m sobre el nivel del mar. Gasoline mixtures of 87 octanes with organometallic additives were employed; the solid is an iron-based substance and the liquid additive is composed of phosphorus and calcium. The behavior with 87 octane gasoline was the base line used for comparison. In the static emissions at 900 rpm the solid additive produces a decrease in the concentration of unburned hydrocarbons and an increase in carbon dioxide. In the static emissions at 2500 rpm, the liquid additive produced a decrease in the concentration of unburned hydrocarbons and an increase in carbon dioxide; The test of fuel consumption in a mixed city-highway route shows and increase of car's autonomy with the use of additives.
