In the ancient world, the heroism was understood as the personification of human excellence. Ayax, the tragedy written by Sofocles, deal whit the problems the son of the king of Salamina have to face. Ayax as a character, is after Aquiles the best hero being present in Troya. When Aquiles died, Ayax is prompt to receive the heraldic weapons from the dead hero. However these coat of arms were given to Oydisseo, causing madness in the prince of Salamina, and his death aftermath.
