Resumen

DEL ROSAL, Gerardo. Levels and modes of integration of previous knowledge in reading comprehension . Rev. signos [online]. 2005, vol.38, n.58, pp.177-194. ISSN 0718-0934.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-09342005000200003.

Within a socio-constructivist approach it is well known that the quality of reading depends on the density, range and relevance of the connections a reader can establish among her/his previous knowledge and those on the text. Consequently, research on this area must pay attention to the following points: what are the mechanisms and the resources that trigger these processes? How does a reader know which aspects of her/his knowledge must be set on stage and at what time? On the grounds of some proposals offered within cognitive grammar and genre theory, we assume that this process implies the meaningful integration of interpretative frames which are valid for the communities (s) he is interacting with. The activity of the reader oscilates between the observance and the abandonment of the frames shared by the communities invoked. To start the study of these points, in this paper we track the ways in which different linguistic constructions invoke different schematized frames of interpretation

Palabras clave : Current discourse space; interaction schematized frames; focalization; positioning; genre theory; conceptual blending model.
