Abstract

GARCIA-TELLO, Patricio; ARDILES, Víctor  and  FAJARDO, José L. Bacteria in the hemolymph of Argopecten purpuratus (Lamark 1819) (Bivalvia: Pectinidae). Rev. biol. mar. oceanogr. [online]. 2002, vol.37, n.2, pp.147-149. ISSN 0718-1957.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-19572002000200005.

Twenty three strains of bacteria were isolated from the hemolymph of Argopecten purpuratus. Our results point out to the predominance of asporogenous Gram-negative rods. We suggest that the presence of these bacteria in the hemolymph is a natural phenomenon.

Keywords : bacteria; Mollusca; hemolymph.
