The Pinus radiata wood cell area percentage (%) was evaluated with the aim to determine the tree position influence from which the wood was extracted, including trees of different ages and of different chilean geographic zones.Thirty-four trees were analyzed by zone, divided into 17 according to each tree age (20 and 25 years). The trees were from good quality sites, i.e., the minimun height was 30 m. Two tree height samples were used ,one from BH (breast height) and the other at 25 % of the total height. Samples were extracted from juvenile and mature wood. in order to obtain a complete analysis from behaviour of cell wall area in all the tree. Early and late wood were included in the analysis too. Software Wincell was used to measure cell wall and statistic analysis was made using SAS software. The highest percentage of cell wall area was found in the wood coming from a lower height in 20 as well as in 25 year-old wood (69.94 and 70.16%). In earlywood, a lower percentage of cell wall area was obtained: 63.33% in 20 year-old trees and 61.83% in 25 year-old trees. The mature wood cell wall area was 75.75 and 71.86 % for 20 and 25 year-old trees. The biggest values are reached in areas with coastal and sandy floors, while the minor for dry floors of the interior of the country
