Resumen

ZEGERS, Beatriz et al. Construct Validity and Reliability of the Identity Engagement Chat Scale (ECICH) in a Sample of 123 University Students. Psykhe [online]. 2006, vol.15, n.1, pp.79-93. ISSN 0718-2228.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-22282006000100007.

This article aimed to estimate reliability and construct validity of the Identity Engagement Chat Scale (ECICH) of Zegers, Larraín, Trapp, Avilés, Grez and St. Aubin in a sample of 123 university students. This instrument is a Likert type scale involving 45 statements, which assesses the compromise of identity in chatting. Alpha of Cronbach coefficient was 0.93 revealing a high internal consistency. Analysis found a structure conformed by 3 factors (Behavior consistency between the real world and the virtual world; Authenticity and deceit; Experimentation and disinhibition). As a whole, these 3 factors explain a 36.77% of the total variance score. This value is considered acceptable.

Palabras clave : chat; youth identity; scale; validity; reliability.
