The principal objective of the study was to analyze attitudes towards multicultural education in a group of Chileans student teachers. The design was exploratory, descriptive and correlational. One-hundred and seventeen individuals aged 17 to 33 participated and were given the Multicultural Education Scale of Attitudes (Cabrera, Espín, Marín & Rodríguez, 1997a). Results indicated that the selected instrument presented acceptable psychometric properties and the individuals' attitudes showed a favorable trend, with the exception of the variable named negative multiculturality. However, a significant number of individuals showed intermediate attitudes, which could indicate subtle prejudice. Better attitudes were observed among women and in individuals who have been associated with immigrants.
