Abstract
MARTINIC, MATEO. RELATIONS AND TRADE BETWEEN MAGELLAN TERRITORY AND FALKLAND ISLANDS (1845-1950). Magallania [online]. 2009, vol.37, n.2, pp.5-21. ISSN 0718-2244. http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-22442009000200001.
The geographic vicinity between the Magellan strait region, South American continent, and the South Atlantic archipelago of the Falkland Island originated an early relation between both territories. This relation held form and continuity since the British occupations in these and the Chilean, in the other, since the XIX century. This relation was particularly interesting in the fields of missionary, social (Falkland emigration), commerce and communication activities, developing along a century until 1950 and conforming a singular case -unique in Chilean History- of ultra territory relation, sustained until present with positive reciprocal consequences.
