This article raises that there is an important North-South political and power contradiction regarding how to understand and how to solve the environmental crisis, that dates back to the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment of 1972. Th is global environmental debate has not disappeared from the world public agenda despite the years, But has evolved. This statement is exemplified by the Ecuadorian proposal known as Yasuní-ITT, which emerged in the 1990s in the context of the fi ght against climate change.
