The World Health Organization (WHO) defines prostitution like all "activity in which a person interchanges sexual services in exchange for money or any other good" (the WHO 1989, mentioned in CONAPO 1994, p. 761). The objective of this research is to describe the personality styles of a group of young adult women dedicated to "prepayment" prostitution in the city of Medellín. The study is descriptive and cross sectional. The sample is composed by 44 women who exert prostitution "prepayment" in the city of Medellín. The Millón Inventory of Personality Styles (MIPS) was used, which is composed of 180 items. The results showed that 70.5% of the sample belongs to middle socioeconomic status (SES) and 29.5% belong to high SES. An 88.6% report that they are pursuing college studies, and 9.1% have graduated from college; and the sample consider academic education as a necessary requisite to access this job. The predominant psychological styles of the women are: communicability, individualism, extroversion, dissatisfaction, discrepancy; and there is no balance between the bipolarities as indicated by Millón like a necessary condition to have an adaptive operation
