GUEDEA, Julio C; ORNELAS, Martha; RODRIGUEZ, Judith M  y  GASTELUM, Gabriel. Factorial Invariance of the Body Image Anxiety Scale on University Student’s of Physical Education and Health Sciences. Form. Univ. [online]. 2012, vol.5, n.6, pp.39-50. ISSN 0718-5006.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-50062012000600005.

The present study analyses the psychometric properties of the Body Image Anxiety Scale (BIAS) on students of physical education and health sciences. The total sample comprised 918 participants; 460 students of Physical Education and 458 students of Health Sciences, with a mean age of approximately 18.3 years and 18.1, respectively. Psychometric analysis showed that a bi-factorial structure was viable and adequate for both populations, according to the established psychometric requirements when the informers are the students themselves. The results showed that factor structure, factor loadings and intercepts of the instrument could be considered as invariant in both groups. However, there are differences between groups for the mean of both analyses.

Palabras clave : anxiety; factor structure; measurement invariance; multigroup.
