This article seeks to illuminate the complexity and diversity of the theoretical and practical transformations experienced by political parties of the left after the coup detat of 1973. The analysis is made addressing the historical trajectory of the socialist party, its link with the communist party and the issue of exile as an influential factor in the different types of political renovation.
