Article 133 of the Chilean Constitution, introduced in the recent constitutional reform that establishes a procedure to elaborate a new political constitution for Chile, contemplates a symmetrical qualified majority of 2/3 for the agreements and norms emanated from the constitutional convention. This paper compares art. 133 of the Constitution with the qualified majority established in Article 127 for the constitutional amendment, shows its specific structural properties and addresses the problem of its justification.
