This article presents some of the results of a case study focused on the meaning of television in the daily lives of children from Santiago de Chile. For this effect, their standpoint and that of their parents has been revealed, in addition to observing the children's television consumption within its spatial, temporal, and interactional contexts. The article, briefly, describes the relationship the six boys and six girls included in the study have with television and presents some preliminary interpretations. Among them, the contextual and dialogic character of the children's viewing is highlighted, as well as the children's use of television as cultural material for the construction of their identities and the relationship with their parents.
