The aim of this paper is to provide information to the problematization of how national and indigenous identities have been connected and consolidated in the case of Argentina, with reference to the Guaraní people of the province of Misiones. We analyzed some field experiences and aspects of the historical tension of these identities from stories and documentary sources. Finally we approached the discussion of how States are linked today with indigenous identities through specific policies.
