In each context there are different ways of being boys and girls. Theaim of this article is to think on the meanings that involves "being a migrant" forperuvian girls and boys in Chile, considering the social integration processes from agenerational perspective and how the concept of childhood changes in transnationalcontexts. Through participant observation and semi-structured interviews with 16peruvian children from 9 to16 years old, it is concluded that there is a certain idealizationof the forms of expression of children in Peru. While in Chile, girls and boys migrantsfeel that the differences with their chilean counterparts are transformed into relations ofinequality, conflict and negotiation. In addition, the school insertion promotes integrationto certain models of childhood built normatively from the adult and chilean world, which leaves little space for cultural diversity of transnational childhoods.
