This article gives an account of the main arguments about the vision that representatives of civil society have over the actions of the companies and the Chilean State. Using a qualitative methodology, 24 semi -structured interviews were carried out, with representatives of three types of organizations in civil society: unions, NGOs and social movements. The issues under investigation were the actions of Chilean firms and its relationship with the society and community in which they operate, as well as the role the state has to ensure rights and implement public policies and social programs. The preliminary results of our research show a dissatisfaction with the functioning of the Chilean economical and political institutions. The arguments of our interviewees criticized the role played by Chilean companies in the development of social responsibility and the diminished role of the State has to regulate the actions of the companies and ensure the protection of universal rights

Palabras clave : social movements; functional differentiation; inclusion/exclusion; companies; state.
