SARQUIS RAMIREZ, Jorge I.; GARCIA SANTOS, Claudia y CARRERA HERNANDEZ, Ricardo. The new old regime. Polis [online]. 2016, vol.15, n.43, pp.607-631. ISSN 0718-6568. http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-65682016000100028.
The current trend to “economize” ecology is contrary to global interest in reversing the alarming pace of environmental and social deterioration, as hegemonic rule of free market law on the ways the nations of the world relate to one another and individuals in any society relate to each other, runs rampant. In contrast, what we really need is to “ecologize” consumption and therefore, production. Confronted by the theoretical and practical impossibility of a profound ecological economy prior to the development of a new ethos among consumers and producers, the continuity of the current state of affairs is a dramatic reality which heralds a new wave of social upheaval around the globe. Only the rise of a clear cut concept and sense of social responsibility as a sole guide capable of changing global economic order can give viability to a sustainable future for mankind.
