Abstract

VILLAGRA, Johana et al. A STUDY OF THE LICHEN FLORA OF BOGS IN THE COMMUNE OF TORTEL (AISEN REGIÓN), CHILEAN PATAGONIA. Anales Instituto Patagonia (Chile) [online]. 2009, vol.37, n.1, pp.53-62. ISSN 0718-686X.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-686X2009000100005.

The lichen flora of 4 bogs (a Sphagnum moss bog; a cushion-forming bog; a cushion bog with Donatia fascicuíaris; a cushion bog with Asteíia pumüa) in the Tortel Commune, Chilean Patagonia were studied. Forty species of lichens were found - 30 epiphytic corticolous and 10 terrestrial. The epiphytic ones were growing on trunks of woody phorophytes common on the Sphagnum bog. The origin spec-trum is very wide with no clear dominants. Of the 40 species, 35 were found in the Sphagnum bog, 23 in the cushion bog, 6 in the cushion bog plus Donatia fascicuíaris and 4 in the cushion bog with Asteíia pumüa. The floristic similarity between lichens on these peatlands can be classified according to their origin and floristic affinities with the associated mosses and vascular plants.

Keywords : Lichens; biodiversity; bogs; Chilean Patagonia.
