Abstract

CAVALLERO, PABLO A.. SOME OBSERVATIONS ABOUT LEONTIUS OF NEAPOLIS' LIFE OF SPYRIDON. Byzantion nea hellás [online]. 2012, n.31, pp.133-143. ISSN 0718-8471.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-84712012000100007.

This work presents arguments in order to determine tha Leontius of Neapolis has written his Life ofJohn the Almsgiver because of the suggestion s the Archbischop of Cyprus but not because of the suggestion of John himself; that the Life of Spyridon has not been written at the request of John but at the request of the Archbischop Arcadius of Cyprus; that this text is prior to 641, but there is no date post quem; that the Life ofSymeon the foul has no to be subsequent to Spyridon and John; that the Leontius' text of Spyridon is that which van den Ven named "Vita II".

Keywords : Leontius; hagiography; Spyridon.
