Abstract

GARCIA CATALDO, Héctor. The representation of the pedagogue in Clement of Alexandria. Byzantion nea hellás [online]. 2018, n.37, pp.143-159. ISSN 0718-8471.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-84712018000100143.

This article proposes a first approach to the work of Clement of Alexandria: The Pedagogue. It articulates the last period of the ancient world with new trends of thought and a cultual and religious syncretism and the position of a new eidos: monotheism. It tries to demonstrate that the role of education, the educator and Christ the paidagogos are seen as the rational grounds of faith and a message of salvation towards man’s perfection.

Keywords : Hellenism; Clement of Alexandria; pedagogy; salvation; perfection.
