Abstract

AREVALO ROBLES, Gabriel Andrés. Indigenous diplomacy: a transdiplomatic approach. Si Somos Americanos [online]. 2017, vol.17, n.1, pp.141-169. ISSN 0719-0948.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0719-09482017000100141.

The present work intends to discuss ancestral diplomatics from the particular angle of the transdiplomacy. To this end, it will present historical aspects of indigenous diplomacy throughout the history of the world system, concentrating the final efforts on the contemporary indigenous diplomatic emergency of the late twentieth and early twenty- first century. Navigating indigenous diplomatic practice, it will discuss the notions of Western diplomacy by demonstrating that the idea of diplomacy is much broader and more critical than those used by classical approaches and relevant to the contemporary counterhegemonic struggles of globalization.

Keywords : diplomacy; lobbying; resistance.
