Abstract
AGUILERA BARRAZA, René. CONFLICT AND RESISTANCE IN A CONTEXT OF INSTALLATION OF THE CHILEAN ECCLESIAL REGIME IN THE PARISH OF SAN LORENZO MÁRTIR DE TARAPACÁ. Cuadernos de Historia [online]. 2019, n.51, pp.59-83. ISSN 0719-1243. http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0719-12432019000200059.
This study reviews the process of installing the Chilean ecclesial regime in the parish of San Lorenzo de Tarapacá, post salt war. Context in which the ecclesial power through a set of religious practices aimed at moralizing and civilizing the local population jointly sought to eradicate those religious contents associated with a Peruvian heritage excuse that were incompatible and contrary to the modern Chilean church. This process will trigger conflicts and resistance because the people of Tarapacá were not willing to renounce their religiosity because it is an element of their identity and of their community lifestyle.
