Resumen

STANGE, Hans; SALINAS, Claudio; SANTA CRUZ, Eduardo  y  KUHLMANN, Carolina. History in Chilean Fiction Films: Strategies for an Audiovisual Common Sense Production. Comun. medios [online]. 2019, vol.28, n.39, pp.160-173. ISSN 0716-3991.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5354/0719-1529.2019.52507.

The text informs the conclusions of an study that purposes to establish the characteristics of the historical discourses involved in Chilean fiction cinema, under the premise that in this cinema we cannot find properly “historical” genres. How, then, does Chilean cinema represent history? We state that Chilean fiction films representations produce a historical verosimilar, that is, an aesthetic-narrative device that resorts to nowadays social imaginaries, with which an ‘effect of reality’ in representation is achieved. In the grounds of this device would not be primarily historical discourses, but an ‘audiovisual common sense’ that gives familiarity and verifies the "historical reality" in the films, it means: in their correspondence with the field of knowledge and common experiences of the spectators. From this approach, some main strategies are explained.

Palabras clave : Chilean cinema; historical discourse; verosimilar; audiovisual common sense.
