The following article presents partial results of an investigation about teaching of temporal categories in Recent History topics, from the application of two questionnaires to students at the Universidad Nacional del Litoral (Argentina). Various definitions are discussed and some hypotheses are set about the state of knowledge that the students of this institution have on historical time and Recent History in the pre-active stage of teaching; and what are the merits and shortcomings of the current curriculum, in the context of initial teacher training.
