MACADOO ESPINOZA, Andrés; ZUNINO, Hugo Marcelo; SAGNER TAPIA, Johanna  y  MATARRITA-CASCANTE, David. THE LIFESTYLE MIGRANTS OF MALALCAHUELLO VALLEY FROM A POSTCOLONIAL APPROACH, LA ARAUCANIA, CHILE. The purpose of this paper is to contribute to a further understanding of lifestyle migration from a postcolonial approach. We explore the differents types of discourses that lifestyle migrants produce during the post-migratory stage in the town of Malalcahuello, La Araucania Region. The study is based on a qualitative research design of associative type of cases by criteria in which we analize 21 semi-structured interviews. The results obtained allow to distinguish between two types of lifestyle migrants: dominants and reflexives, which indicate the differentiated manifestations of the phenomenon. Generally, dominant lifestyle migrants tend to apreciate the territorial transformation produce by them in the post-migratory stage and reproduce colonialist notions of social hierarchy already present in the host places, unlike reflexive migrants who tend to valuate their insertion in the pre-existent social network of local community. This findings contribute to the discussion about this types of migration in territories configured by recent colonization processes.
