The following text constitutes a study on an aspect that is little discussed in the field of theory of lexicography: the training of lexicographers, that is, what knowledge, skills and abilities should be possessed by people who write dictionaries and consulting tools in general. In the development of the research, the object of study will be approached from two elements: the reflections and existing research on the lexicographical formation and the analysis of the different study programs on lexicography that can be studied at present, with special attention to Spain. The data will allow to draw relevant conclusions to know the current development of lexicography as a science, as well as the possibilities of lexicographical training that currently exist.
