A text line has been extracted from each issue of ARQ magazine, using the number of the issue as a reference for the page of extraction (from issue number 1, the first line on the first page). These fragments have been assembled in a progressive sequence from 1 to 99, trying to follow, in a way, the rules of literary cut-up established by William Burroughs. To ensure certain fluency and language coherence (verb conjugation, conjunctions, singular or plural consistency, grammatical gender, and so on), either small alterations have been introduced or a few words have been eliminated.

When the page identified did not feature any text but only drawings or photographs, for instance, simple estimates have been applied to search for the fragments on the immediately previous or following pages, ensuring these were written by the same author of the piece in the designated page. Only texts in Spanish have been selected, discarding the ones in English when the rule of the game would have led to selecting a line in such language.

The authors of the original texts are listed according to the information found in each issue (sometimes with double last name, some without, some only with its initials, with or without two names, and so on). Among them, repetitions or notable absences will be noted, determined only by the implacable logic of the rule of the game. In some cases the magazine’s layout makes the lines very short, and, therefore, the final text is very synthetic, distilling the immense work and collective intelligence of the 99 journals published between 1980 and 2018 in only two pages.
